Another Cootie Catcher Design

Orders are steady thru this hot summer. Gotta love that! While the standards designs for the favor with its 8 questions and the program are still hot, I decided to add a twist to the wedding favor layout. I have added a word search to the center to help entertain the guests that much more. We all know how long taking those bridal party pictures can be. This can give your guests a diversion while all those pictures are still getting snapped.

Baby Showers & Weddings..Oh My

I have been very busy the last few months getting all the items I have in my portfolio up on my Esty shop. The past few weeks have definitely picked up since wedding season is here. It's been hard to get everything listed in my shop with all the Cootie Catcher designs. I love being busy and it's been too hot to go running except in the wee hours of the morning. Since I have not posted in awhile, I thought it would be great to display some of the recent Cootie Catchers I have completed for all these wonderful brides. It's been a long time since I was designing items for my own wedding and am really jealous at all the great ideas and options out there today. I am glad I can put my talents to work to help make someone else's special day extra special.

Craft show season is back!

I have been getting the notices of the upcoming craft shows for the fall and realized I am no where near ready. I have been staying busy with my wedding favor & program orders. That has kept me off course with my sewing but luckily those orders have not been hard to keep up with. But with the craft season starting, I need to get my act together and get the needle moving. I have added a few new things to my display other than the fleece hats I usually sell. I decided to branch out and add items for adults, as well as, the kids items I already work with. The new items are monogrammed can koozies and zipper bags. The can koozies are just the right size for your back pocket until you find the drink you want. They fold flat for easy storage too. As for the zipper bag, I found they have been a big hit among the teenagers. I use it myself for lipstick, powder, etc in my purse. It also works great for holding items you have to have in your purse and makes it super easy to switch purses at a moments notice.

In Wedding Mode

Now that the days are much warmer, time spent crafting has changed courses and it's back to invitations and paper goods. I am the "Go-To" girl for laying out of programs, invitations for parties, and anything wedding of the course of the summer. Of course I still do a bit of embroider but lately my time has been in front of the computer getting these weddings ready. I thought since I have brought my sewing to the masses, maybe I could reach out my computer skills to you as well. I have decided to put myself out there for taking orders on designing wedding programs, table numbers, and cootie catchers (aka fortune tellers). I can fill in the layouts with the information you provide and I'll send you a pdf so you can print them on your paper selections, etc. That way I can have the files back to you in a few days instead of maybe weeks if I do the printing. No one needs any extra headaches when get a wedding together, I know!

I thought I'd post a cootie catcher I am working on that has questions on the inside. It is being used during the reception to help entertain the guests since it is a large wedding. I will also post pics of programs and other items I am more than happy to share so your special day is worthwhile. Proofs normally are sent within 48 hours, but I would let you know if it will take longer.

Wow, It's Cold!

Over the past few months, I have been able to slow down from the craft shows mode back into a casual crafty mode. My regular job has sure gotten in the way of my sewing, but I have not let that get me down. I am happy to see that this cold weather we have had for months has allowed my hats to still be hot sellers. They have worked out great as must haves and as these cold days wear on, I am glad to see them out and about town. Made me smile when I saw a little girl in the line at Wal-Mart with my hat adorning her sweet little head. The photo below shows a super cute hat I made that wraps over the ears and under the chin. The top has tassels on each side.

The fleece hats and the Swiffer mop heads have been a dark horse taking over my embroidery orders. Can't complain though. When you get a great idea, it catches on and keeps people coming back for more.

Whew, what a week!

I wrapped up the craft shows for the year and got a lot of custom orders for Christmas. Just got everything finished and in the mail. Don't want anybody worrying about not getting their items in time. A couple of my favorite items for the week were a hat for little MeKenzie and a few new hat designs I was trying out. The new hats are headed to my niece and I love how they look. I can't wait to see her playing in the snow all bundled up. As for the rest, looks like a lot of monogrammed zippered bags are going to be filling some stockings next week.

Keep the orders coming. With all the snow starting to pile up outside, I'll be trapped inside with nothing to do but sew, sew, away!

Lots of new ideas

With each new show, I seem to come up with more and more ideas. My latest has been in testing for a few weeks but with people asking for them I made some to sell. My tree hugger self really hated buying and eventually throwing away the Swiffer dust mops and duster sheets. So I decided to make some that were reusable. I love how great they work and my friends and neighbors think they are awesome too. Once you are finished cleaning with them, just toss them in the washer. Nothing could be easier! I just started selling them at the craft shows and they are making people think about how much they are literally throwing away and also selling quite well.

Next show for me is West Teays so hope to see everyone there!

With the fall setting in faster than I expected, I have been getting things together for the craft shows. Broke myself in with an easy Harvest Festival here in my city of Hurricane with mixed weather. I was able to sell some things and get a better sense of who likes what. On a great tip from my sister-in-law, I made fleece hats for kids since the cold weather is making its way just as easily as the leaves are falling.

Here are a few pictures of my lastest creations. Bibs, blanket, and hats...oh my. I have shows lined up through December so my weekends are dedicated to dragging around tables and boxes. I am finally getting around to more embroidery and applique done to add to the craft mix. Keep emailing me with your ideas and remember Christmas is approaching faster than you could believe. Knocking things out for the upcoming craft shows and just could not wait to show off these key fobs. They can be personlized with embroidered name or initial. They are made from 100% cotton webbing and fit around your wrist. These are perfect for keeping your keys handy when you need both your hands for the groceries, a child's hand, etc. These are just the beginning and I have plenty of other colors to choose from.

Craft Show season

I have been feverishly finding items to sew and get ready for the big craft shows. It's hard to get in to the Christmas spririt but in a few weeks the mad rush will be my craft show appearances. It is hard to figure out what will sell, but I think I found some great ideas. I am working on crayon caddies for kids, monogrammed key chains, and a carrying case for the Nintendo DS. I think that is my dark horse and will post pics of it when I am finished.
